CHRIS WOOLLAMS is
a man with a mission.
Having retired from a successful career in advertising, Chris spent five years
studying nutrition, body energy systems, reiki and personal fitness training,
when in April 2001, his 22 year old daughter Catherine was diagnosed to be
suffering from a brain tumour.
Chris had plenty of free time and an extremely sick daughter. So he did what any
dad would do. He read every book on cancer he could find; scoured the internet
and spoke to cancer specialists in the USA, UK and France, and covered every
possible avenue in his quest for knowledge.
Having obtained a degree in Biochemistry at Oxford University (during which time
he had coincidently been involved in cancer research), Chris discovered four
important facts:
- There is so much already known about cancer - the volume of knowledge is
unbelievable.
- This information is not passed on. There is not one single place you can access
it all. It takes six months at least to find the things you need to know, and
often it's all too hard to understand because the terms are so complicated and
technical. Worse, there are issues of politics, with some orthodox practitioners
and some alternative health workers locked in petty squabbles.
- Accordingly, people are dying of ignorance which is an awful truth.
- Cancer is beatable, even now, if you build your own integrated solution By
integrated, we mean you need to take the best of orthodox and complementary
medicines.
When Catherine had passed through the worst, two doctors encouraged him to write
everything he'd found out in one easy to read book. Thus, "Everything you need
to know to help you beat cancer " was born. (More books are planned).
Then, whilst lying in her hospital bed, Catherine said to him, "Why is there no
professionally written magazine on cancer? There should be something in the
style of Cosmopolitan Health."
And so "Integrated Cancer and Oncology News" was born.
(Icon is a 24 page, 4 color monthly magazine).
Chris now believes that the best place to "pull all this critical information
together" is via the Web - so please visit
iconmag.co.uk - where we aim
to cover all ideas that can lead to fully integrated solutions for all people
touched by cancer.
Finally, he is launching a charity.
Chris says:
| "There are many cancer charities
- possibly too many. All tend to research the same things, providing clinic
standard evidence on drugs and treatments.
We intend to research the unresearched! We want to study specific mixtures of vitamins and minerals; or get answers (one
way or the other) on B17 or medicinal mushrooms; or find out the truth on
acrylamider; or toxins in foods, toiletries and cosmetics.
We will even provide money to study alternative treatments like pancreatic
enzymes or juice diets. Why? Because at the moment, all the treatments are too
easily dismissed because there is little or no supporting hard evidence.
Well, we aim to get some - even if it shows B17 doesn't work at all, because
without that evidence, cancer patients are in danger. They may be overlooking
treatments that might work. Worse, they may be undergoing treatments that do
not! Then, we aim to become a real voice in Europe, championing the cancer
patients' cause everywhere. If the E.U. wants to stop the sales of key vitamins
and minerals, or Noni, or Astragalus, they had better have some good reasons!"
